Where: Studio 1, 1st Floor, 20 Poole Hill, Bournemouth, BH2 5PS (The Triangle, Bournemouth town centre)
Aimed at budding fashion designers this 6 week course will introduce students to sustainable fashion, teaching them sewing techniques enabling them to create their own garment from preloved textiles.
Course Objectives
Discuss the impact fast fashion has on the planet and look at designers using sustainable techniques
Learn how to use a domestic sewing machine
Practise draping on the stand, cutting and pinning
Demonstration of professional finishing techniques
Introduction to various garment openings and fastenings
Practice embellishment techniques
Students will come away with a wearable garment constructed from preloved textiles
Laura has over 20 years experience working in the fashion industry and runs an award winning sustainable fashion label based in Bournemouth.
Cost: £150 for 6 sessions
All sewing equipment and materials are included (Students are welcome to bring their own machine if they prefer).
Maximum 6 students per session
Textiles will be provided but students can bring their own if they wish
Minimum age 12 years
